Development of NFA’S International Leaders Against Pain Coalition
The International Leaders Against Pain Coalition (ILAPC) comprises support group leaders and patient advocates from around the world that have completed the NFA’s Leaders Against Pain media and advocacy training and have expressed a desire to collaborate on an ongoing basis on behalf of the FM community worldwide.
Coalition Goals:
Promote FM as a global health issue
- Develop U.S. and international executive committees to assist in determining:
- Coalition’s mission, goals, objectives, priorities and evaluation of results (U.S. & Internationally)
- Guidelines for membership and procedures for voting
- Unite FM support group leaders and patient advocates to create credibility
- Expand FM awareness by increasing the number of impressions regarding FM in both print & electronic media worldwide
- Strengthen advocacy efforts to:
- Increase FM research funding
- Impact government policies pertaining to access to healthcare for FM patients
